BEE FRIENDLY purpose is to promote bees and pollinators friendly practices. It is therefore to educate farmers and companies manufacturing and distributing daily life products with the major challenge being the survival of bees – indicator of the quality of the environment, and to encourage them to adopt practices that have a positive impact on pollinators and their ecosystems.
The theme of the preservation of pollinators is transverse: agricultural production obviously, but also the food industry, cosmetics, detergents, etc.
For now, the BEE FRIENDLY specifications were developed on three sectors, with the support of pioneering companies, partners of the Association:
Viticulture with the cooperative Les Vignerons de Buzet, committed over 10 years to a sustainable development strategy with 198 wine growers it represents (www.vignerons-buzet.fr)
Fruits and vegetables
Dairy products with the German company MVS Milchvermarktungs-GmbH which sells its dairy products with the Sternenfair brand,(www.sternenfair.de)
These pioneering companies participated in the creation of the specifications with the beekeepers, experts and the control body.
Depending on the interest of future partners, BEE FRIENDLY specifications may be developed in other sectors: livestock and meat production, cotton and textile, crops, etc.
